I just finished this and am pretty happy with it.
There are a lot of choices for 3d printed gizmos, but I chose this one
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4860734
This one has raised circuit paths that are easy to paint, as was as other fake components such and the capacitors, resistors and transistors. The vertical resistors have holes in them so I glued bent pieces of wire into them. Nixie tubes are made from plastic test tubes, and I found a small string of AA powered red led lights with red wire that go in each one. This looked like an led in the tube so I cut some pieces of perfboard and shoved them in the tubes above the leds.
For the $15 or so I have invested in it, I'm very happy
